Alexis Sanchez will leave Arsenal this summer according to reports in The Times , with fans told on the Stadium Tour by staff members he will not sign a new deal at the club.
Several newspapers have been running the story this morning with suggestions the club staff who operate the tour revealed the Chilean star will ‘definitely’ leave the Gunners this summer with talks over a new deal likely to end in bad news.
Sanchez’s current terms end in 2018 and will enter the final year of his contract this summer unless he signs fresh terms. Several of Europe’s elite clubs are very interested in signing the prolific forward who has 17 goals and eight assists to his name in the Premier League, and seemingly is edging closer to the exit door with talks ending in a dead end so far.
Although these reports lack real substance, it reminds me of a similar situation with Robin Van Persie back in 2012. Having taken the tour myself that summer, an exit seemed inevitable from talking with several staff members and Charlie George the feeling around the club was that the Dutchman would not sign a new deal. A few days later a statement was released and off he went.
Mesut Ozil’s contractual situation seems more positive however, noises around the club suggest the German is far more settled and happy with life in North London. Alexis however is growing frustrated it appears especially with Arsenal’s continued ability to capitulate when it matters most.

It seems a shame to lose a player who has been incredibly vital since his arrival. Sanchez has been one of the best performers in the Premier League, but if Arsenal struggle to keep him this summer, who would you like to see us bring in?
