Joel Campbell signed a new deal before leaving on loan this past January (via the Metro), but the Costa Rica international could still be on his way out of the club this summer.

Arsenal star unsure of Emirates future with only one year left on contract
The 22-year-old looked superb at the World Cup, but struggled to hold down a place when he finally arrived at the Emirates. He has enjoyed a fairly successful loan spell at Villarreal this season, and admits that despite his new deal with us, his future is still undecided.
“I renewed with Arsenal but in football you never know. After my [summer holidays] I will have to return to Arsenal,” he said during an interview on the Radio RMC podcast.
“I started the season [at Arsenal] with plenty of confidence after the World Cup but there was too much [competition] there. I was not going to have the playing time I wanted so I opted to go on loan to keep growing.”
Arsene Wenger may have extended Campbell’s deal simply as a way of getting a higher transfer fee for him this summer, and he has already been tipped to move.

The Daily Star claim he could be used as a makeweight in a deal to bring William Carvalho to the Emirates, with the Sporting Lisbon midfielder linked with a £22m move this summer.
Campbell showed glimpses of quality during his time at the club, but never really looked to be at the required level to play for Arsenal. He still has plenty of time to mature into a top player, but he is unlikely to see first team football at the Emirates anytime soon.
