Some incredibly questionable reports from Spanish publication Don Balon (via the Daily Star) suggest Alexis Sanchez has demanded a summer switch to Manchester City, with the Chilean apparently looking to be reunited with Pep Guardiola.
Alexis has apparently become fed up with life at Arsenal, without inability to challenge for the highest honours really frustrating him. The fact that Arsene Wenger doesn’t seem to be addressing the issues facing the club is also playing a part, with the 27-year-old determined to win trophies.
His agent Fernando Felicevich has apparently been instructed to find him a new club, with Atletico Madrid, Valencia, and Real Madrid all interested (via the Daily Star). Alexis is apparently looking to remain in the Premier League though, with Man City his preferred destination.
While it’s certainly not unthinkable that Alexis has grown frustrated with Wenger’s inactivity, it doesn’t actually seem likely that he’ll be allowed to leave this summer, even if it’s what he “demands” (via the Daily Star). He’s still got two years left on his current deal (via the Mirror), and he’s such a key part of our setup that it would be madness to let him leave.
It would also be a truly negative statement of intent, letting every player know that we’re willing to let our best players leave and aren’t looking to build a title winning side.

Obviously in this day and age it can be very difficult to keep a player who doesn’t want to be at the club anymore, and we’ve seen how badly it can backfire in the past. The player will never give 100% if he doesn’t want to be there, and you often end up merely devaluing your player, eventually forced to sell for less than you could have. Hopefully these rumours really are just rubbish, and Alexis has no intention of leaving the club this summer.
