The media is currently dominated by talk of a new striker arriving at the Emirates, but Hector Bellerin claims we have already made an equally important signing.
Petr Cech remains our sole signing so far this summer, and the Spaniard has heaped praise on the experienced former Chelsea shot-stopper.
The 33-year-old got his Premier League campaign off to a poor start with two huge mistakes against West Ham – costing us two goals in the process. He has since settled in however, and his performance against Liverpool was unquestionably world class.
Bellerin recognises this, and highlighted the importance of the Czech international.
“[Cech] is a great professional and we are learning a lot from him, his performance on Monday [against Liverpool] said a lot about him. He’s at his top level, he made some great saves and it’s important to have a goalkeeper who can win you points,” Bellerin said on Arsenal.com.
“It’s good to have a striker who can score goals, but the fact that we have a goalkeeper who is going to stop them is as important. We are very lucky to have him in goal and when you look back and see Petr in goal it gives you a lot of confidence.”

He’s right in so far as Cech is likely to prove a key signing for us this season, but we’ve seen during the first four games of the campaign just how important a striker could be.
Arsenal transfer news
We’ve really struggled for goals so far, with Olivier Giroud the only player to actually have found the back of the net. Signing a top quality striker would go a long way towards remedying that, and would hopefully propel us into the title challenge.
