Arsenal skipper Mikel Arteta is adamant that our current squad is the best he’s seen for a number of years and cited our response to disappointments as a unique quality we possess, he told Arsenal.com.
Arteta is back amongst the group after an injury-ravaged campaign last term, although he has been forced to accept a reduced role given the rise of Francis Coquelin.
Having signed a one-year extension in the summer, Arteta is certainly a major figure in the dressing room and he sees the club as having the potential to push on and achieve greatness.

“This is the best group of players in terms of numbers and quality that we have had for many, many years,” he told our official website.
“We haven’t broken in difficult moments and that is very important. I am really confident in this group – if we maintain it and start adding little things in the next few years then we have a very strong team and club.”

Our need for a holding midfielder who’s able to start off our attacks is evident, especially since Arteta’s absense from the team. However, given the decline in his physical potential, playing the Spaniard on a consistent basis is a risk.
Although, in particular games at home this season, Wenger should definitely opt to play Arteta ahead of Coquelin with teams looking to defend in numbers at the Emirates.
Arteta has always been a man of class, and hopefully he can lead us to glory this season – on and off the pitch.
