Wojciech Szczesny has criticised the “sh*t” English media for twisting his words and making up stories, with reports that he wants to make a permanent move to Roma absolute rubbish, according to the Polish shot-stopper’s official Facebook account.
Recent reports have suggested that Szczesny was happy in Rome and discussions were taking place regarding a permanent switch (via Sky Sports). Szczesny insists that the quotes leading to this story were merely about extending his loan for another season, and even then he only said maybe.
The worldwide media is often like a game of Chinese whispers, with stories changing ever so slightly from outlet to outlet, until eventually they can become unrecognisable and totally fabricated.
It’s great news that Szczesny isn’t discussing a permanent move away from the Emirates, as while he’s unquestionably down the pecking order at the moment, his role at the club isn’t necessarily over. The Pole is arguably a far better keeper than David Ospina, and with more potential to improve too.
Szczesny could learn a lot from current first choice shot-stopper Petr Cech if he were to study under him, and although he has some truly shocking mistakes in him, he’s still relatively young in keeper age and could still blossom into a top quality goalie.

He’s massively improved at Roma too, so if he continues to grow then hopefully he’ll become a solid deputy and eventually able to replace Cech between the sticks.
