Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has warned the team to be fully prepared for our trip to Dinamo Zagreb in our first Champions League clash, or risk being embarrassed by the Croatian side, he told Arsenal Player.
The first fixture in the Champions League group stage is imperative and given that we’re away from home, three points would essentially allow us to focus on our home fixtures in the group.
With Bayern Munich’s presence looming large, getting maximum points from our opening group games against Zagreb and Olympiakos is vital.

“We want to pass through into the next stage and we know that the favourite is probably Bayern Munich so we can’t lose against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos as well.”
It seems that our squad is settled for a second-placed finish in the group, a dangerous mentality given that there six points up for grabs against Bayern Munich.
It would also mean that we would be required maximum points from both games against the other two teams in our group in order to avoid an uncomfortable final few games.
Hopefully, we can kick off our Champions League campaign in a better fashion than we did 12 months ago.
