Petr Cech showed a touch of class following our hugely disappointing 4-0 loss to Southampton on Boxing Day, with the Czech international jumping the advertising hoarding to apologise to the crestfallen Arsenal fans.
Our abject performance saw us miss the chance to move top of the table, but more than that it put doubts in the minds of fans and pundits around the world about whether or not we’re capable of challenging for the title this season.
The level headed Gooners out there know that our season is not going to be derailed by one poor performance and a shock defeat, but losing 4-0 to a struggling Saints side certainly puts a dampner on things slightly.
Cech looked to lift the spirits of the travelling fans after what he knew was a sub-par performance from both he and his teammates, and made a few fans far happier by apologising to them personally after the game.

One fan even got his gloves.
One happy Arsenal fan. She was given the gloves of Petr Cech. The pair he wore when he let in four. pic.twitter.com/ac3D1a7zx7

We were unquestionably horrendous against Southampton, and you’d have to go back quite a way to find a worse performance from Arsenal. It was only one game though, and we’re still just a couple of points off the top of the table with half the season to go.
