Laurent Koscielny has warned of the threat Christian Benteke poses ahead of our Monday night clash with Liverpool, and insists we will have to be at our best to keep him at bay, as reported by Arsenal.com.
The Frenchman has blossomed into one of the league’s finest centre-backs (although you wouldn’t know it by his performances over the last two games), and is now one of the first names on the teamsheet.
He highlighted Benteke as one to watch out for when Liverpool head to the Emirates, and recalled our previous meetings against him versus Aston Villa.
“We had a good game against Aston Villa in the FA Cup final but the other games against Benteke will be harder,” he said.
“I know him and every game is hard against him. He’s a big professional who gives his all for the team and to score.
“He loves the duels and he loves the goal so it will be harder this time. Just because we won by three or four against a team last season doesn’t mean you will again. We can do it again, but each game you need to improve yourself so you are ready to win.”

Benteke has gotten off to a decent start at Liverpool, and scored the winning goal against Bournemouth last weekend.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have won both of their opening matches so far, but certainly haven’t been at their best. Philippe Coutinho rescued them against Stoke with an absolute screamer, and the officials came to their aid in a big way against Bournemouth – discounting a perfectly legitimate Cherries goal while allowing a clearly offside Benteke strike.
Arsenal transfer news
We’re more than capable of destroying Liverpool the same way we did last season, and their acquisition of Benteke shouldn’t change that.
