Arsenal stars reacted on their various social media account to what was a slightly strange victory against Newcastle United at St James’ Park with an own goal handing us three points.
We started brightly in the opening exchanges of the encounter and on the 17-minute mark, the game would change dramatically. Magpies forward Alexandar Mitrovic raked his studs down Francis Coquelin’s shin and was given his marching orders by Andre Marriner.
One would’ve expected us to take the game to the hosts and really gain some confidence in front of goal, but our football became pedestrian-like. Newcastle rarely looked stretched in their defending and the fact that, after playing against 10 men for 75 minutes, we could only find the net through an own goal, proves that we have some serious issues in the final third.

On a positive note, we looked assured defensively – albeit with very little to do – which has now resulted in back-to-back clean sheets.
Petr Cech was among the players to post his usual message on Twitter and was also swiftly followed by Mesut Ozil, who missed the game through injury.
