Recent reports have been linking us with a new centre-back signing, but with four at the club already that seemed unlikely. It now seems that Calum Chambers will be sent out on loan however, freeing up a spot for a new signing, as reported by The Telegraph.

Chambers initially looked like a solid signing, with the former Southampton man looking like a real star of the future. Arsene Wenger hasn’t been able to find a place for him though, as he hasn’t really settled in at right-back, centre-back or in midfield.
He’s still incredibly young at just 21-years-old, so there’s plenty of time for him to develop. He’s unlikely to get the game time needed at Arsenal though, so a loan move could be the right path for him.
Chambers has shown that he isn’t a viable option at right-back, as he just doesn’t have the pace or the agility of a top full-back. Against trickier wingers he gets absolutely torn apart, and with Hector Bellerin ahead of him he’d never get a game next season. His future seems to lie at centre-back, although at the moment he’s far from ready to be in the first team.
There are plenty of clubs interested in bringing him in next season, with Southampton, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Swansea, and Watford all looking to sign him. We want him to go somewhere where first-team football is guaranteed, as without that he may as well be sitting on the bench at Arsenal.

Arsenal transfer news
All these reports linking us with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly (via The Telegraph) seemed far fetched until now, with Arsene Wenger surely not wanting five centre-backs in the squad. If Chambers goes that would definitely open the door though, and hopefully we’ll see a new partner for Laurent Koscielny.
