We have regularly been linked with a move for West Ham centre-back Winston Reid of late, and the New Zealand international appears to be edging closer to an exit from Upton Park, according to the Daily Mail.
Sam Allardyce has repeatedly expressed his desire to keep hold of the 26-year-old, but with less than six months remaining on his current deal the Hammers boss knows he won’t be there for long.
It seems highly unlikely at this stage that Reid will be signing an extension, so his departure is only a matter of time. Allardyce looks to have identified his replacement already, with Olympique de Marseille defender Nicolas N’Koulou top of his list.
With the East London club seemingly resigned to losing their star defender, this makes a move to the Emirates seem that much more likely. Reid certainly looks like an ideal signing, but we can’t afford to wait until the summer. If he can be lured away this January then fantastic, but if not then we need to focus our attentions elsewhere.
