Arsenal have reportedly tabled a €8million bid for Juventus striker Fernando Llorente, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, according to beIN Sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri.

After Louis van Gaal mentioned that he was interested in a ‘mystery striker’, reports suggested that the man in question was former Athletic Bilbao striker Llorente (via The Independent).
According to Tancredi however, we’ve tabled an offer for the striker as Arsene Wenger looks to add to our strike-force this summer ahead of a potential title challenge.
A move for Llorente would be surprising considering the calibre of players we’ve been linked to in recent weeks. Arsene Wenger has stressed on a number of occasions that he’s only looking for world class players, and whether or not the Spaniard falls under that category is questionable.

Perhaps, in what would be a genius piece of brinkmanship, we’ve tabled this reported offer in order to force Real Madrid into action, which could subsequently make Karim Benzema available – wishful thinking? Most likely.
Llorente has also been heavily linked with the Spanish giants (via talkSPORT) as a potential replacement for Benzema, as we look to add the Frenchman to our squad (via the Mirror).
Whether or not the scenario above becomes a reality remains to be seen, though our reported interest in Llorente would be equally surprising should it transpire.
He is very similar to Olivier Giroud and wouldn’t necessarily strengthen our squad.
