The Gunners were reportedly close to securing the services of the 24 year old back in 2012 but failed to secure a work permit for the defender.
Kouyate’s agent Saffet Balkan has confirmed that the Gunners have enquired about the possibility of signing his client in the summer transfer window.
According to the Metro, he said:
Arsenal have been tracking Cheikhou and have now made enquiries to Anderlecht.
Galatasaray and CSKA also keep close tabs on him. Valencia made a bid in January, but Anderlecht rejected the offer.
The Senegalese centre back featured in all of Anderlecht’s six Champions League fixtures this season and is reported to be available for a fee of around £8 million. Liverpool have also been linked with a swoop for the centre-half, who has made 33 appearances for the Belgian club this season.
Vermaelen looks set to be leaving Arsenal in the summer, having lost his place in the side to Laurent Koscielny, which has reportedly prompted Wenger to make a move for Kouyate.

The 24 year old has previously been compared to former Arsenal player Patrick Vieira due to his imposing presence. He operates at centre-half for Anderlecht, but he has been known to play in midfield for both club and his country and it does appear that he could have a future as a defensive midfielder.
He stands at 6 ft 3 in and adds a great presence in the air, while he has shown to be more than capable of getting forward and hurting opponents for Anderlecht. He is good on the ball, reads the game well and looks to stride forward, lending himself to a role further up the field.
He can be used as a backup for Bacary Sagna who is yet to sign a extension on his current contract which expires after the end of the season, as well as providing competition for likes of Mertesacker and Koscielny. Arsenal will have to back up their interest with a solid bid if they are to bring him to the Emirates.
