Questions have been raised over the suitability of Per Mertesacker at Arsenal, and despite a solid game against Manchester United this past Monday speculation continues to grow.
The giant German could see himself down the pecking order this summer, with Subotic a potential replacement.
Gabriel Paulista was signed from Villarreal in January, and looks to be a fantastic acquisition. We could still arguably use some defensive cover however, as with the Brazilian suffering an injury during his second start we are already looking a little light again.

Subotic, 26, may be the answer, and with just a year left on his current contract the Serbian international could be looking for an exit from the struggling Bundesliga side.
We will apparently face heavy competition from a host of top European clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and a trio of Serie A giants.
I’m not so sure he is enough of an improvement to warrant a purchase, especially when you take into consideration his injury problems. If we can get him on a cut price deal however, then he could prove worth it.
