We have been repeatedly linked with a move for Barcelona winger Pedro (via the Metro), and have been handed a massive boost in our hunt for his signature following reports that he’s essentially handed in a transfer request, according to Spanish publication Marca.
The pacy wide man is a top quality player, but with the likes of Luis Suarez, Neymar, and Lionel Messi ahead of him, he has struggled for game time at the Nou Camp.
It’s understandable that he’d be looking for an exit, as at just 27-years-old he still has a large chunk of his career ahead of him.
Marca’s report suggests we are facing heavy competition for his signature from Manchester United, with the Spanish international even requesting a transfer to Old Trafford.
But Barca boss Luis Enrique recently claimed that any club looking to sign Pedro would have to meet his release clause – believed to be around €30 (via Marca) – so if we can match that then we can at least rival United for the La Liga star.

We are badly in need of reinforcements to our forward line, with our options fairly limited heading into the 2015/16 campaign. We have mostly been linked with out and out strikers like Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema (via The Telegraph), but we are lacking in the wide areas too – with Arsene Wenger often forced to deploy central midfielders on the flanks.
Pedro would be an excellent acquisition, and if we can keep him out of Louis van Gaal’s clutches then all the better.
