The tough tackling defensive midfielder was superb throughout the tournament, and has been awarded the Player of the Tournament accolade by UEFA.

The 23-year-old was unquestionably one of the best players early on in the tournament, and his displays in front of what proved to by an extremely watertight Portuguese defence made them practically indomitable.
He unfortunately let his side down in the final – missing the final penalty in the shootout that gifted Sweden the trophy – but that wasn’t enough to strip him of the award.

The Sporting Lisbon star seems like a fantastic prospect for the future, and looked like a man among boys at times. He would be an excellent rotation option alongside Francis Coquelin, and his versatility is likely to appeal to Arsene Wenger. Hopefully we can secure his signature, and beat the competition to the punch.
