We have been heavily linked with Karim Benzema throughout the summer, but we have also been credited with an interest in his teammate Denis Cheryshev (via The Telegraph).
The report claims that the Russian winger has held talks with new Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez, demanding that he be allowed to leave the club.
The 24-year-old may not be the marquee signing many Arsenal fans will be hoping to see arrive, but he is certainly a player of quality. We are currently lacking options out wide, with Arsene Wenger instead opting to deploy central midfielders on the flanks.
This makes us far too narrow and one dimensional, and has to be remedied before we get too far into the season – whether internally or through transfers.
With a £14.7m (via the Metro) transfer fee being touted, Cheryshev could prove a bargain. And the fact that he has requested an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu should help smooth the transfer.
