Beating rivals Spurs on the pitch is one thing but beating them to a top transfer target would be quite sweet for Gunners fans, and that is apparently what the club are trying to do – according to TEAMtalk.
Tottenham target and Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez could yet end up at the Emirates Stadium instead, that is if Arsenal are indeed prepared to stump up a huge contract offer for the Argentinian.
The report claims that Mikel Arteta’s side are putting together a contract offer for Lautaro Martinez that would see his wages all-but triple overnight, from the £81,000-a-week deal at Inter, to £275,000-a-week at Arsenal.
Arsenal also have the luxury of being able to do a deal now, while it appears that Spurs’ move for Martinez could depend on the sale of England star Harry Kane, likely to Manchester City.
While the contract offer would be enough to gazump Spurs’ offer, the 23-year-old goalscorer is reportedly attracted to the chance to link up with national teammates Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso.
