Michy Batshuayi is set to sign for an unnamed Premier League club and it is believed that the Gunners are in pole position according to reports in Talk Sport.
The 20 year old striker has been in fine form scoring 12 goals in 19 appearances for Standard Leige and is being described as the new star of Belgian football.
The report states that a Premier League side are on the verge of signing the forward for £6.5 million and loaning him to Anderlecht for the remainder of the season. It is believed that Arsenal are the unidentified English club, but there also suggestions that it could be Swansea City, who tabled a £2.5 million bid during the summer but failed to bring the Belgium Under-21 international to the Liberty Stadium.
Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move for the young striker for some time now but it appears that the Frenchman could be on the verge of firming up his interest in the Belgian.
Michy was born on in October 1993 in Brussels and started his career at youth level with FC Brussels in 2005. He spent a season with his home town club before moving on to RSC Anderlecht for a season but he moved back to Brussels before being snapped up by Standard Liege in 2008 and remained in their youth set-up until the 2010-11 season, when he made his first two senior appearances.
He was promoted to the first team permanently the following season and has cemented himself as one to watch. In his first season he scored six goals in 23 league appearances, nine in all competitions and followed that up by scoring 12 goals in 34 league appearances last campaign, and so far this term he has equalled that tally in 17 league games.

The youngster has scored 35 goals in 98 career appearances for the Belgian club. He is yet to earn a senior call up to the Belgian national side; however he has managed five goals in seven appearances for the Under-21′s.
He is basically a striker but can also play on either flank. He has fantastic dribbling ability, possesses unbelievable pace and power and he is also very good in and around the box, with a tremendous leaping ability. He can terrify opposing defenders both with the ball at his feet and in the air; he has all the attributes to become one of Europe’s most dangerous front-men over the next couple of years.
Even if we sign him, fans will have to wait to see the talents of Batshuayi in the Premier League as it is reported that Anderlecht will loan him back until the end of the season. He looks an exciting prospect for the future but Arsenal will need to sign a big name striker in January to challenge for the Premier League as Giroud will be able to carry this burden for the whole season.
