Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson is set for an improved contract before being sent out on another loan spell with West Ham United currently favourites to land the 23-year-old, the Daily Mail reports.
Jenkinson impressed last season while at Upton Park, showing that he has the capabilities to consistently perform in the Premier League.
Despite the wealth of options we have in the right back slot, it isn’t surprising to see why Arsene Wenger still sees a future at the club for Jenkinson.
Arsenal transfer news
Mathieu Debuchy is set to turn 30 this year and is therefore not a long-term option while the boss may see Calum Chambers’s future at the heart of the defence.
That leaves Hector Bellerin, and a future with him and Jenkinson competing for the right-back slot will certainly secure that position for the next decade.

Jenkinson’s potential was always evident; however, as a lifelong Arsenal fan, he often appeared to play with vast emotion which led to various errors.
After some time away, Jenkinson can hopefully return with a mindset of a player who belongs at this level and put in the performances we know he’s capable of.
