Mikel Arteta will have to do his best to convince the board to part ways with £50millon and upwards to sign top defensive transfer target Ben White from Brighton.
That is according to a report in talkSPORT, that says that Arsenal have actually had a bid of £40m turned down by the Seagulls for the newly-capped England defender.
White is currently at the Euros with England and no deal is likely to be completed until the Three Lions’ competition comes to a conclusion.
Ben White, 23, has proven a versatile asset for Brighton, playing more than capably in the midfield as well as his favoured central defensive position.
News of a potential £40m bid though could offer hope to Gunners fans that the club mean business in trying to break back into the Premier League’s top four.
