As the domestic season draws to a close, a moment of reflection is required for a Premier League campaign which was high in quality but lacking the drama we’ve become accustomed to over the past few years.
There was little to play for during the final round of Premier League games which took away from the usual skeptical.
Having said that, we’ve been treated to some sparkling individual performances and The Telegraph has ranked the best 20 players in England’s top flight.
Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez made the list, but there was no mention of Laurent Koscielny or Francis Coquelin.

20 – Esteban Cambiasso
One of the signings of the seasons after joining Leicester City on a free transfer last summer. The Argentine was the difference in their survival campaign.
19 – Ander Herrera
In what has been a frequent tale this season, Herrera has enjoyed a second-half of the season compared to what was an indifferent start to his Manchester United career.
18 – Cesar Azpilicueta
Part of a title-winning back four which also happened to keep the most clean sheets in the division, there are few better full-backs in Europe than the man known as ‘Dave’.
17 – Jordan Henderson
Liverpool’s skipper-to-be has been the shining light for a Reds side who have endured a difficult campaign. Henderson will inevitably be compared to Steven Gerrard which could weigh heavy on his shoulders.
