Arsene Wenger has given Arsenal fans a blow ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester City, ruling Petr Cech out of the match. The Czech stopper went off with an injury during the defeat to West Brom and will miss the next couple of weeks.
Matchday: Team News – Predicted Lineup – Match Highlights
Match: Arsenal v Manchester City
Stadium: Emirates Stadium
Kick-Off (GMT): Sun 2 April 16:00
It’s hardly been the best few months for Arsenal. An embarrassing exit from the Champions League, consecutive defeats in the Premier League and rumours linking the manager and star players with moves away.
The Gunners will face Manchester City on Sunday but Arsene Wenger revealed they’ll have to do it without a couple of star players.
“We’ve lost Petr Cech at West Brom and he will not be fit for Sunday,” Wenger revealed. “Apart from that, Cazorla and Perez as well are not fit. That should be it.”
Santi Cazorla has missed months and Wenger also confirmed that his season is over.

Another midfielder who hasn’t played of late is Mesut Özil. The German struggled with a lengthy illness and took a long time to recover but featured for Germany over the international break.
“Özil played 20 minutes with Germany against Azerbaijan and has come back in a good way,” Wenger confirmed ahead of the clash.
Hopefully, the German will make a good recovery and be fully fit and ready for the City clash. Özil’s creativity has been missing from the Arsenal team of late, particularly against West Brom. Wenger criticised the “blind possession” which Arsenal held against the Baggies and that is something which will need to change against City. Unfortunately, the Gunners will have to do that without Petr Cech in the sticks at the other end.
