Arsenal are monitoring the developments surrounding Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and are ready to pounce if he becomes surplus to requirements, AS reports.
According to the Spanish outlet, we’re set to battle it out with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain if the 27-year-old becomes available.
AS suggests that Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be moved into a central striker role, which spells danger for Benzema considering that he’s been occupying that position for the past six years.
Real Madrid have even been linked with potential replacements for Benzema, with Juventus forward Fernando Llorente mentioned as a possible target (via the Express).
El Confidencial’s Kike Marin has given his take on the latest development and stresses that Wenger is waiting to pounce should Benzema become available.

Adding a world-class striker remains the missing piece in the jigsaw for Wenger to build a squad capable of toppling Chelsea in the Premier League title race.
Benzema’s potential arrival would turn us from title challengers to potential winners. The Frenchman has the ability to conjure up a goal from very little, something we’ve lacked since Thierry Henry.
Every squad aiming to win the title must have a centre-forward capable of scoring over 20 goals in the league, Benzema can do exactly that.
