Arsene Wenger is looking to move Joel Campbell on this summer and may use him as a makeweight in a deal involving Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
Carvalho was heavily linked to us throughout last summer with a deal even mooted on deadline day; however a €30million offer was rejected by Sporting Lisbon which eventually put an end to the move, as the report suggests.
Despite the impressive rise of Francis Coquelin, it seems as though Wenger is leaving nothing to chance and is still keen on adding a holding midfielder to our squad.

The contractual situations of our existing players in that position has certainly triggered the boss to act with Abou Diaby, Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta all set to be free agents this summer.
Campbell signed a new long-term contract before being sent out on loan to Villarreal (via Arsenal.com), but it seemed more like a ploy to eventually get a higher fee for him this summer rather than his potential future at the club.
