There is no question that our performances away from home against the big teams have not been good enough in recent years, and it’s something we need to rectify quickly.
Arsene Wenger believes we are more than capable of taking all three points at the Etihad this Sunday however, and claims a win would do wonders for the team’s confidence, as reported by ITV.
Last season’s clashes with the top four teams were painful, and we ended up on the wrong side of 6-3, 6-0, and 5-1 results against Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool respectively.
Wenger has not let these results dent his belief, and claims a win on Sunday could prove vital during this tricky part of the season.
“We go into a period now where the confidence is important,” he said.

“We have big games until the end of the season and this can be a decisive game on that front.
Is it a self belief? Maybe. We did not perform last year in the top games away from home.
“I believe now we are much more stable and we can do it.
“For many years it was our strength but in the last two years, it is true that it has been a weakness. I think we can rectify it.”
We certainly have a team that is more than capable of beating the Premier League champions, but the players’ mentality heading into the game has to be right too.
Despite their lofty position in the league, City have not looked infallible this season. If we can remain solid at the back then we definitely have the attacking quality to punish them.
It is however perhaps worth noting that City’s away record is as impressive as their home form, with Pellegrini’s side collecting 24 of their 47 Premier League points on the road.
