Arsenal are set to be among the busiest clubs in football this summer, with agent Jon Smith suggesting that the increased money in the Premier League this season combined with early payments will see several clubs splurge before the Euro 2016 Championships kick off, as reported by Sky Sports.
Smith claims that several of England’s biggest clubs will be looking to make the most of the cash influx this summer, spending big before the other clubs even get a look in. He tips Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City to be the busiest, with all four clubs throwing their financial weight around.
“The interesting thing is that the Premier League have decided to pay the clubs earlier this year, partly, I guess, because of the European Championships,” he said.
“It’s going to be a bit convoluted. What will happen is you’ll have a spree and then a decline of activity as people wait for the European Championships, and then it will pick up again towards the end of July.
“Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City will be the busiest I suspect.”

We certainly look set to get some of our business done early for a change, with Granit Xhaka the player most heavily linked with an Emirates switch recently (via The Independent). The fact that Arsene Wenger has claimed that there will be at least three signings this summer suggests we’re in for an action packed summer (via The Evening Standard), and fans will be hoping the added money actually shows in Wenger’s spending.

It’s certainly been suggested that we’ll be in for a busy summer, and if the other big teams are set to spend as freely as Smith suggests, then we’ll need to splash the cash just to keep pace.
