Arsenal Players in World Cup 2018 Guide & Latest Tips

Has it been four years already? The World Cup 2018 in Russia is set to give some of the best talent in a generation the chance to bring home the ultimate silverware for their country this summer when the tournament starts on June 14th and accumulates on July 15th.
Arsenal will have nine representative players at this World Cup in Russia, and there are a few who may just have the chance to lift the famous trophy in July. All Arsenal looks at the players who will be pulling on their countries jerseys this summer.

Which Arsenal Players in World Cup 2018?

Expectations around England are lower than normal this summer and whether that will stand the Three Lions better than previous years remains to be seen. Attacker Danny Welbeck earned a call-up by Gareth Southgate despite being in and out of the Arsenal team this season, and no doubt Gunners fans will be wishing Welbeck can make the desired impact even if it’s only from the substitutes bench.

Maybe Arsenal’s best hope of coming back for next season with a World Cup 2018 winner’s medal is Germany’s Mesut Ozil. The German will want to impress for Joachim Low’s side once again and has delivered in past major tournaments, and no doubt new manager Unai Emery will be hoping to see a good tournament from potentially Arsenal’s best player ahead of an important new season.

Another player with a big chance of lifting the trophy on July 15th is Nacho Monreal for Spain, who will have one of the standout clashes of the group stages against their local-rivals Portugal. The defender was one of the standout players in Arsene Wenger’s final season in-charge and fans will be keen to see if he can get much game-time ahead of Spain’s plethora of defensive talent.

Switzerland will boast two Gunners, Granit Xhaka and new signing Stephan Lichtsteiner but they will face one of the trickiest looking groups on-paper, with Brazil, Serbia and Costa Rica. The Swiss are normally a decent tournament team and will fancy themselves to overcome their European counterparts Serbia in qualifying out of the group alongside Brazil (which looks like a foregone conclusion).

Arsenal’s backup goalkeeper David Ospina will once again be representing Colombia in Russia having last time reach the World Cup quarter-finals and earning himself a move to north London for his impressive displays in Brazil.

Academy product Alex Iwobi is out in Russia with the Super Eagles (Nigeria) and will be donning that snazzy looking kit that has proven to be the most popular selling at this summer’s tournament. How far Nigeria will go in the summer is very much up in the air with them in a tough group with Argentina, Croatia and Iceland.

Mohamed Elneny will be representing Egypt, in what will be the country’s first time at the World Cup in 28-years. No doubt the Pharos will be well-backed at the tournament and will fancy their chances of getting the knockout stages if they can overcome either Russia or Uruguay in Group A.

Joel Campbell who been out on-loan this season will be at the World Cup 2018 with Costa Rica and is likely to come up against two other Gunners when his country takes on Switzerland in Group E.
