Arsenal’s Gedion Zelalem is wanted on loan by League One side Bolton Wanderers. The midfielder spent last season on loan at Rangers and looks set for another temporary deal away from the Emirates this year (via ESPN).
He was once thought of as the best young player Arsenal have had since Cesc Fabregas but Gedion Zelalem’s career hasn’t really got started at the Emirates. The United States Under-23 international is yet to make his Premier League debut despite first breaking into the first team picture in 2013.
Zelalem impressed during his loan spell at Rangers last season, helping the club win the Scottish Championship as well as the Scottish Challenge Cup. Now the 19-year-old is attracting the attention of Bolton Wanderers.
ESPN reports that the League One club are interested in taking Zelalem on loan. Wanderers were relegated from the Championship last season and new manager Phil Parkinson is looking to rebuild his team.
The two clubs have history with Rob Holding recently moving the other way for a fee of around £2 million. Arsenal also sent Jack Wilshere on loan to the club when he was 18.
Wilshere returned from his spell at Bolton a more complete player. Let’s hope that Gedion Zelalem can do the same should he make the move to the Macron Stadium in the coming days.
