Arsenal have a fantastic record in the early stages of the Champions League, and not only has Arsene Wenger ensured that we are in the competition consistently, but he also more often than not has seen as out of the group stages. Poor performances against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos have given us a mountain to climb if we want to progress, and with back to back games against an incredibly in form Bayern Munich side, at the moment that mountain looks unscalable.
We have a habit of making things difficult for ourselves in the competition – losing our opening fixtures in the group stages, getting annihilated in the first of two legs against an opponent, or finishing second in the group when top spot was more than in reach. We’ve taken it to a whole new level this time though, and it’s hard to see how we can recover from this.
