Arsenal’s chase for Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega might have moved one step closer after Sevilla signed a potential replacement for the player.
It’s a transfer which a lot more Arsenal fans are eager to see after Ever Banega’s fine performance for Argentina on Tuesday night.
Ever Banega was at the heart of everything for Argentina vs Nigeria:

Key Passes 3

The midfielder assisted the opening goal and was one of the best players on the pitch amid reports that Arsenal are keen on signing him.
- ‘Break club record spend or look elsewhere’ Arsenal told
- Arsenal eye player Lionel Messi claimed to be ‘similar to Xavi’
- Arsenal urged to buy ‘January transfer window bargain’ for £6m
The 29-year-old has a reported €20 million release clause in his contract and has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners due in part to his relationship with Unai Emery.
Now, this move could have made a step closer after Sevilla’s signing of a potential replacement for Banega.
Former Swansea City midfielder Roque Mesa has joined the La Liga side in a deal believed to be worth £8 million.
This could move things along in terms of any potential Ever Banega signing. Roque Mesa was poor for Swansea last year but was a hugely influential midfielder in Spain for Las Palmas the season before. They both play in a similar position which is why Mesa has been cited as a potential Banega replacement.
