Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that the club’s better results in the big games is down to analysis and preparation as Arsene Wenger aims to focus more on the opposition, he told Arsenal Player.
Following the heavy defeats in the big games last season at Stamford Bridge and Anfield, it is clear to see that the approach in these games has been altered.
Starting at The Etihad in January, a change in our tactics was evident and giving rivals respect has been crucial to our success. These performances were replicated against Manchester United and Liverpool in recent months which has shifted the perception of Arsenal when the big games approach.

Wilshere puts this mostly down to each player knowing their specific role.
“This year we’ve started to analyse the teams a little bit more,” Wilshere confessed.

“We’re going there with a plan and as a team we know what we’re doing, which is important.
“Look at the last few years and we’ve had a few injuries going there and people playing out of positions, but this year we’ve looked a real unit going to tough places and a real team.”
Wilshere was named on the bench at Wembley against Reading for the first time since the win at Crystal Palace in February and is pushing for a return to the team.
However, whilst we remain on a nine-match winning run, it is difficult to see Wenger changing a team performing to these levels.
