Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is our latest player to reveal his Ultimate XI – consisting of the best players he’s played with during his career.
Given that Ozil has played for Real Madrid and is a key member of the current world champions, his team would definitely take some beating.
Arsenal transfer news
Only two of our current stars make his XI, including one interesting choice.
GK) Iker Casillas
Ozil went for the Spaniard instead of Germany’s No.1 Manuel Neuer, a controversial choice indeed. Ozil won the La Liga title in 2012 alongside the legendary Spaniard.

RB) Phillip Lahm
Along with Cafu, Lahm will go down as one of the best full-backs in history. The Bayern Munich skipper has won almost everything available to him, and a return to the international scene to claim the European Championships and complete his set shouldn’t be ruled out.
CB) Sergio Ramos
One of Ozil’s best friends in football, our German wizard claimed that he sees his former teammate as “the best centre-back in the world.”
Currently in the midst of a transfer battle between Real Madrid and Manchester United (via the Metro), Ramos is one of the most decorated defenders in the history of the game.
CB) Jerome Boateng
Ozil stopped short of following in the footsteps of Jack Wilshere and Nacho Monreal in including Laurent Koscielny in his team.
Ozil included Bayern Munich defender Boateng instead, who is arguably an inferior defender to our formidable Frenchman.
The Brazilian has been a mainstay for Real Madrid over the past few years and Ozil had high praise for Marcelo.
“I’ve never seen a defender as technical as him,” Ozil told our official Youtube channel.
