As we prepare to take on West Ham United in our opening Premier League game, there is always an air of trepidation regarding the outcome of a game with no league form to base a judgement on.
Since our move to the Emirates Stadium in 2006, we’ve opened the season a number of times in N5, but with very different outcomes.

We’ve therefore delved into the archives to analyse all the games in which we started the campaign off at home since 2006 to gauge how Sunday’s game may turn out.

As we got used to the surroundings at the Emirates Stadium, going a goal down became a constant theme, despite the fact that we only lost one game at home all season in the league.
With Aston Villa leading and our season looking like it would begin on a disappointing note, Gilberto Silva came to the rescue as he would on so many occasions that season.
It seemed as though the new stadium move had a huge part to play in the result, and very little can be drawn from that game to help us on Sunday given that the Emirates is very much our home now.
