The signing of Petr Cech is close to being finalised after an arduous two weeks of endless speculation, with Monday pencilled in as a likely announcement date, The Telegraph’s Jason Burt reports.

According to the reliable journalist, all the details of the deal have been agreed and an announcement remains the only factor left in arguably the biggest deal of the summer so far.
Very rarely do we see players moving between Premier League rivals, especially a player of Cech’s quality who will improve our chances of winning the title immensely.

The ruthlessness displayed by Arsene Wenger should also be commended and encouraged in the future, with the boss moving for a world class player regardless of the options he currently has.
Judging by the dimensions of our squad, only players of the very highest calibre can improve us and we should now entrust the boss to bring those types of players in.
