Jenkinson impressed while on loan at Upton Park last season and with Hector Bellerin thriving for us, the 23-year-old’s future looked bleak.
However, the boss has shown massive faith in him to renew his deal which could spell danger for our other right-back, Mathieu Debuchy.
The former Newcastle man endured a horrendous debut campaign, suffering two traumatic injuries which ruled him out for six months collectively.

However, with Debuchy turning 30 this year, it seems as though Wenger envisages a future which consists of Jenkinson and Bellerin competing for that slot in the team.

Jenkinson has improved defensively while at West Ham United and his added height will only add strength to our defence in the future.
He also excels in the delivery department which is something Bellerin can learn from if the two are to compete for a starting spot in the future.
