The award for the surprise of last season certainly went to Hector Bellerin, and the Arsenal full-back has warned Chelsea and Manchester City that we now have the balance to win the league, as reported by FourFourTwo.
Bellerin started the season as our third choice right back and after the baptism of fire he experienced against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, a first team berth seemed miles away.
However, in typical Arsene Wenger fashion, the 20-year-old was eased back in, and during 2015 he arguably rivalled Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic as the best right-back in the division.
Speaking at our kit launch this week, Bellerin pinpointed why we’re dangerous in the big games and touched on our potential in the title race.
“The team is really solid now,” Bellerin told FourFourTwo when asked what qualities Arsenal possessed compared to rivals Chelsea and Man City.

“Having players like Alexis [Sanchez] and creative midfielders like [Santi] Cazorla and [Mesut] Ozil can change a game.
“I think the team has been really creative up front and solid at the back and if we can maintain that next season then I think we will have a good one.”
The foundations have been laid for a sustained title challenge and there can really be no excuses next season. The lack of an international tournament robbing us of most of our stars should aid us in starting well, and looking at our first six fixtures we really need to fly out of the traps.
Bellerin will be hoping that he can keep his position, and with Mathieu Debuchy preparing for an injury-free season and the competition for places in our current squad, hopefully we will see an intense focus from the Spaniard for the majority of the season.
