Arsenal’s move for Leicester City superstar Riyad Mahrez is in risk of collapsing, as it’s not a mega-money move to a more prestigious club that the English Premier League winner is after.
The Gunners’ interest in last season’s PFA Player of the Year is certainly no secret. However, a deal that many thought to be done and dusted has dragged on. To make things worse, France Football (as per the Sun) claim that an offer of a higher salary won’t be enough to turn the Algerian’s head.
According to the French news outlet, what Mahrez really seeks is switching to a team with an established style of play. This comes after Ranieri admitted that the 25-year-old is distracted by interest from the north London giants.
“Maybe Riyad is distracted a bit by all of these rumors and speculation. But that is also an experience for my players,” Sky Sports quote the Italian as saying.
“It is important that he understands that he should stay with us. He has to improve his fitness and play for the team as well as last season.”
It goes on to state that a high transfer fee no longer holds a huge sway on the promising talent. If the rumors are to be believed, it is quite possible that the Algerian winger’s highly speculated £37m switch to the Emirates Stadium could be at stake if the player chooses the love of the game over money.

However, this claim by France Football surely contradicts Arsenal’s chances of landing Mahrez, as beautiful passing football has long been the focal point of the Gunners’ style of play.
