Santi Cazorla was superb once again last season, and was arguably our most consistent performer. He has recently been linked with a move back to La Liga, but he has moved to quash rumours of a touted transfer to Atletico Madrid, as reported by Goal.
The Spaniard thrived in a new deeper role this past season, and pulled the strings from midfield. He formed a fantastic understanding with Francis Coquelin, and was a massive part of our successful 2015.
He was recently asked about reports linking him with a move back to Spain, but insisted he was happy at Arsenal and wanted at the very least to see out the remainder of his current contract.
“Rumours about Atletico Madrid are false. Currently, I just focus on Arsenal. I have two more years on my contract here and I hope to complete them,” Cazorla said, as quoted by Goal.
“I’m very happy in Arsenal and in the Premier League. I feel loved and valued by the team and supporters.”

It’s fantastic to see our little midfield magician is so happy at Arsenal, and hopefully he remains with us for years to come. Competition is rife in midfield at the moment, which only serves to push everyone to be at their best.
Arsene Wenger has experimented with midfield players out wide in order to accommodate all our stars, but Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey, and Jack Wilshere are all far more comfortable in a central role.
