We all know that football statistics can only tell us so much. However, they’re certainly interesting to study when we’re looking to compare the players from within our own squad.
Arsenal transfer rumours
WhoScored are a football stats website which ranks and rates players on their overall contribution to matches both offensively and defensively – scoring a footballer /10 for their individual performance.
Over the season, here’s our top 10 performers, based on performance score averages…
10) Mathieu Debuchy – 7.25
The Frenchman has only played once since mid-January due to injury, with just 16 appearances in all competitions to his name. His rating proves how strongly he started the season, but he’s not been sorely missed due to the man ahead of him in this list.

9) Hector Bellerin – 7.30
The loss of Debuchy has been eased by the emergence of this young Spaniard. The speedy full-back has played 22 times in all competitions during the current campaign, scoring twice, including one against Liverpool. Talent in abundance.
8) David Ospina – 7.31
The Colombian only played twice prior to January. However, he’s enjoyed a lot of success since establishing himself in the team, reducing Wojciech Szczesny to a number two. He’s registered nine clean-sheets this season.
