Arsenal could be given a huge boost in the Premier League title race with a report that Chelsea are facing a possible points deduction, according to The Mirror.
The Blues are in hot water following last weekend’s win over Manchester City which ended in angry scenes that saw Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho both sent off.
The brawl was sparked by an awful tackle by Aguero on David Luiz that left the striker with a four-game ban that rules him out of the clash with Arsenal next weekend.
The Mirror now claim that Chelsea could face further punishment after having already been fined four times in the last 19 months for their players’ behaviour.
The club were reportedly warned about their future conduct by an independent FA Comission following last season’s derby with Tottenham which saw the Blues fined £375,000 in a match that saw 11 yellow cards.
They are also believed to have been told that a points deduction was considered then and will be in the future if Chelsea players continue to get into trouble with the report stating they were told: “The time cannot be too far distant when a commission concludes the only proper sanction is a points deduction.”

Antonio Conte’s side are reportedly aware they could lose points and have asked for a personal hearing.
The last time a points deduction was handed out was back in 1990 following Arsenal’s infamous brawl with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were deducted one point while the Gunners had two points removed but still went on to win the league title.
Chelsea moved three points clear of Arsenal on Sunday after a narrow 1-0 win over West Brom as the title race hots up ahead of the Christmas schedule.
