With Morgan Schneiderlin completing his move to Manchester United (via the BBC), we are quickly running out of defensive midfield targets. With Francis Coquelin still our only reliable option, we need to turn our attention to the remaining transfer targets available.
There are still plenty of options out there, but some are arguably far better than others.
5) Mehmet Topal – Fenerbahce
We have recently been linked with a somewhat surprising move for Fenerbahce midfielder Mehmet Topal (via the Metro), with the report touting a £5m move for the Turkish star.
He is arguably not of the required quality to play for Arsenal, but he could be a good stop-gap. Coquelin showed last season that he is more than capable of performing the role, and bringing an ageing star to the club would allow him to keep his starting spot.
