Arsenal recorded their sixth consecutive win by finally ending Swansea’s undefeated Premier League run against the Gunners at the Emirates. A double by Theo Walcott and a sublime volley by Mesut Ozil earned Arsenal the 3-2 win, however Wenger believes the German needs to pull the trigger more often than he currently does.
Xhaka’s sending off became the talking point of the game but it is Ozil’s goal that truly stands out from the dramatic win which puts Arsenal level at the top with Manchester City.
The birthday boy scored a stunning strike from Alexis Sanchez’s cross into the box making the score 3-1 in a fashionable manner.
The quality of the goal was compared to Van Basten’s classic by a reporter but Wenger thinks Ozil’s strike is a terrific goal in itself.
“I do not want to compare, but it was a great goal,” said Wenger speaking at the post-match conference, as reported by Arsenal.com.
“When you see Ozil finishing today, you think a little bit that he doesn’t take his chances to shoot enough. When you see him in training, he scores basically when he wants.

“You speak with the keepers and he’s one of the most difficult players to predict where he’ll put the ball.
“In the game, I’m happy that he gets goals and I hope that gives him the taste to try more.”
This was Ozil’s third goal in the seven appearances he has made in the Premier League. The German has been in fine form and has developed a strong partnership with Sanchez. The two have shown incredible display of coordination on the pitch and Arsenal’s continued unbeaten run in the Premier League can surely be contributed to the hard work of the duo.
It is for this reason Arsenal has been pressing for new deals for both of them but the progress on contracts seems to be halted at the moment. If it is any comfort they do point to the Arsenal crest whenever they score a goal, which can be taken as a hint that the two will eventually pen a new deal, it is only a matter of time.
