It seems as though Arsene Wenger has gotten tougher with his players after issuing an ultimatum to his Arsenal charges; defend or you’re out.
Wenger has been particularly upset about the balance in the side against Monaco and with the offensive power in the side, defending as a team is paramount.
The likes of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck all lined up, and it seems as though their efforts in the transition were not up to standards for the management.

Gaps all around the pitch were evident as Monaco broke and the effort to recover the ball was absent.
“Offensively we have lots of solutions. We have to find a team balance. It is more about team balance than any individual,” Wenger told reporters (via ESPN).

“When you have the ball in the modern game you have to attack, when you don’t have the ball you have to defend. All the players who can’t do that, cannot play.”
Wenger’s loyalty to the players has been one of the criticisms of the boss and a toughness needs to be installed.
It’s as if the boss can’t admit that he made a mistake by purchasing a player that hasn’t quite worked out and judging by these latest quotes, the boss has a big decision on his hands in the case of Mesut Ozil.
