Arsene Wenger has dropped a significant hint in terms of his intentions on deadline day with the boss promising that we’ll be active in the transfer market, he told BBC Sport.
We are desperate for a centre-forward and our profligacy in front of goal has proven exactly that in the opening four games of the Premier League seasons.
Our only two wins have come away from home, with our form at the Emirates Stadium starting to become a real worry. We haven’t scored in five of our last six Premier League home games.

Wenger has assured us that we’ll be active on the market but stopped short of guaranteeing that a new arrival will be presented before 6pm on Tuesday.

“The activity will be there,” Wenger told BBC Sport after we beat Newcastle United.
“Will the activity be efficient? I cannot promise you, it’s very difficult to predict.”
Judging by those quotes, one can imagine that Wenger has his sights set on his targets, but getting a club to sell this late in the window may scupper any deal.
The assumption is that we’re buying from a big club given that Wenger has stressed he only wants the best players (via The Evening Standard) and, therefore, an elite club rarely let go of a top player unless they have a replacement in place.
If anything, it will surely be an interesting final few days in the transfer window.
