According to ESPN, Busquets’s latest contract – which he signed in 2013 – included a €150million release clause to warn potential suitors off.
Busquets has been one of the best holding midfielders in the world since he broke out in 2009, with his emergence forcing Barcelona to sell Yaya Toure to Manchester City.
Sport suggests that Busquets is high up on Wenger’s list of potential targets, and a move for the midfielder would certainly add to the manager’s recent trend of only adding world-class players to the squad.
Arsenal transfer rumours
While the holding midfield position is one we might need to strengthen – with Francis Coquelin the only player capable of performing in that role to an adequate level – a move for Busquets would prove to be a huge surprise.

Given that these reports are emanating from Barcelona’s local paper, there could be an element of truth in Wenger’s interest, but that could also be as far as it goes.
