Arsene Wenger hailed debutant Jeff Reine-Adelaide after the teenager made his debut in an impressive cameo following his summer move from RC Lens, the boss told Arsenal Player.
Adelaide arrived alongside Yassin Fortune, who hasn’t entered the fray in terms of playing with the first team, but Wenger is in no doubt that he’s found a gem in the all-action 17-year-old.
The boss is usually cautious when discussing young talents at the club, but his open admiration of Adelaide suggests that we should be excited about this unknown quantity.
He certainly impressed during his brief appearance against Lyon and Wenger was pleased with what he saw.

“He is a great talent and when he came on you could see that – 17 years old let’s not forget that.”
Wenger initially named Adelaide in the squad which travelled to Singapore, but the midfielder was replaced at the last minute by Jon Toral.
It is clear that the boss rates him highly and it will be interesting to see if the young star is handed more minutes in Sunday’s game against Wolfsburg.
At first glimpse, Adelaide looks like the player we all thought Diaby would become. Hopefully, he can fulfil his undoubted potential.
