Arsene Wenger has been linked with a surprise move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani with hopes of a move for Real Madrid Karim Benzema fading away, but Canal + reporter Pierre Menes claims that the boss has “never wanted” the 28-year-old.

Reports emerged following our goalless draw against Liverpool across various outlets that Cavani was now Wenger’s main target (via the Daily Mail), but it appears that the boss isn’t interested in Cavani, if reports from France are to be believed.
Since Ivan Gazidis declared that we had entered a new era where we’d now see an “escalation in our financial firepower” in the summer of 2013 (via the Mirror), just how we haven’t been able to find a world-class striker to lead the line for us is baffling.
