Arsene Wenger has defended the team once again and is adamant that we have enough goals in the squad to launch a serious title challenge this season, Arsenal.com reports.
Wenger failed to address our need to add another striker during the window and the boss has made it clear that he prefers the responsibility to be shared among different players.
Listing six of our current stars, Wenger indirectly handed each one a goalscoring target and when added together, it seems as though he’s expecting 100 goals from this selected few.

“We will have to spread [the goals] through the squad,” Wenger was quoted as saying by our official website.

“I think Giroud, Walcott and Alexis can get around 20 goals without any problem.
“I would rather have Ramsey [score] 15, Ozil 15, Cazorla 10. Otherwise, if you have only one player who scores, when he is injured you don’t know who will score.”
Wenger’s theory seems understandable, but in practise, it doesn’t appear realistic and few clubs have won the Premier League without a recognised goalscorer.
In fairness to the boss, it’s not clear if the targets he set the players are based on their potential tally in all competitions or just the league.
Given that Giroud is currently our only goalscorer this season, Wenger may be aiming to deflect his mistakes during the window while placing unnecessary pressures on our players.
